Nikki's Shower,Pics and Devotion

I don't know why Kelly was looking like that.

34 weeks

nom nom nom....

Nikki had to hold a baby, talk on the phone and hang clothes up at the same time. She did pretty good and I was the one she was talking to on the phone. I ask her why the baby was in pink and she said"Cause all my clothes are dirty!"
I ask why she was hanging clothes on a line and she said "I don't know! I have a dryer!"
I ask what she was cooking for supper and she said "McDonalds!"

She did pretty good but hung most things long ways.
It was funny.

opening Oka's blanket. She loved it Oka!

I don't know what was so funny.

Nikki's shower was a huge success! She had 42 people there and then on Sunday she got more gifts from people who were not able to come to the shower.
I did the "devotion" and it went good even if I did cry....hard....very hard at times. Several people even ask if I wanted them to read it but I was determined! My cousin said there wasn't a dry eye in the room...that's a good thing...right? So here is the devotion....

When Mrs. Cripps asked me to say something today I was excited and thought it would be a piece of cake. I never thought it would be a s hard as it has been. I have cried every day, several times a day thinking back over the years.

I wasn't sure of the "correct" way to do this so I'm going to read a few memories through the years to start.

I REMEMBER...

*when I was pregnant with you I would sit and try to imagine what part of your body was making the movement I could see in my belly. You were only 5 lbs so you were an easy baby to carry.

*My newborn baby looking like she had a tan already and a head full of black hair...and a tiny patch of black hair on your cheek. Mama and I rubbed that patch for a good two weeks before it finally fell off.

*You choking when you were 2 weeks old and we were all alone. I suctioned out your face and ran to Aunt Mickey's house. As soon as she opened the door I almost threw you into her arms so I could have my breakdown. I was so scared!

*You riding all over the house on your little tikie, only stopping to watch commercials. Now you flip through commercials so fast you make my head spin.

*You starting school and everything had to be perfect or you would stress out. In 1st grade I woke up late and you were late for school, When I picked you up that afternoon you said we had to go buy you an alarm clock because I made you late. From then on out you woke yourself and Kelly up for school. (I won that one!)

* Kelly giving you a black eye with the swing and you overheard me telling mama I hoped your teacher didn't think I had done it to you. You went to school the next day and made sure your teacher knew that your mama didn't hit you in your eye. I was more scared after that! (Sounded very coached)

*Your first broken heart and how badly I wanted to drop kick that boy from Star City.

*Prom and all those tiny curls I put in your hair.

* Your half day you worked at Sonic and called asking if you could quit because they stressed you out.

*Your first car that I couldn't teach you to drive because YOU stressed ME out.

*When you told me in the church parking lot that you didn't think you were saved and we turned around and went back into the church and you got saved in this very room.
(shower was held in that room)

*when you got baptisted same day as Ms. Shelby and Mrs. Wallace gave me kleenexes because I kept crying.

*How happy you were when you got married.

*when you told me your test came back positive but you still took the test like 3 times in 2 days to be sure....I think it was accurate.

1 COR. 13:13
And now abideth faith, hope, charity these three but the greatest of these is charity.

Charity is love.
The most important thing you can do for Drex is to let him know he is loved. That will also show him the love Jesus has for him.

ECC. 3:1
To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven.

Being a mom is a job! It's a lot of work. But it's also something you should enjoy. Have FUN with Drex. Connect with him but also give him boundaries. Enjoy the short time you will have with him at this age. It's only a short season of your life so make the best of it.
It's your turn to be the mother God made you to be.

Prov. 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not into thine own understanding.

Don't forget to take time for yourself. There's going to be days it will be hard to even brush your teeth because Drex will be vying for your attention. Take a moment to get with God and pray- Dear God I don't know how I'm going to get through this day!
God will know your heart and honor your plea.

**Remeber that God has given you Drex to be a blessing to you. I know you are going to make a wonderful mama because you already are.
I have 1 regret in raising you and that is not bringing you up in church....don't make the same mistake I did.

I would like to end with reading Col 1:9-11

For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that you might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.
That you might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.
Streengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, unto all patience and long suffering with joyfulness.
Amen
